Québec devient historiquement la première province à autoriser et couvrir les thérapies par la psilocybine
Nouvelle majeure dans le dossier de la psilocybine, la province de Québec est maintenant la première province canadienne à couvrir les frais médicaux de thérapie à base de psilocybine par la Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec.
Au cours des dernières années, plusieurs groupes de médecins, tels que la Fédération des Médecins Omnipraticiens du Québec, ainsi que plusieurs groupes de patients, ont maintenu une pression constante sur les différents niveaux de gouvernement pour donner un accès beaucoup plus large à la thérapie avec psilocybine. Nous pouvons maintenant en voir les résultats positifs avec la décision du gouvernement du Québec de couvrir les coûts de ces traitements. Cette décision s’inscrit dans la logique de Santé Canada qui a reconnu les bienfaits de ces thérapies en janvier 2021 et devrait encourager d’autres provinces et même d’autres pays à envisager de faire ce pas et de donner accès à cette substance.
Au cours des derniers mois, nous avons constaté une augmentation du nombre de magasins vendant des champignons hallucinogènes et des microdoses à base de psilocybine, tant à Vancouver qu’à Toronto. Une autre facette de cette tendance est la vente en ligne qui est maintenant beaucoup plus apparente que par le passé. Malgré le fait que la psilocybine soit toujours considérée comme une substance contrôlée, nous constatons une grande tolérance de la part des corps policiers au Canada, ce qui semble être une tendance dans l’application de la loi qui est également évidente dans de nombreux États américains et ailleurs dans le monde.
En bref, qu’est-ce que la psilocybine ?
La psilocybine est contenue dans plusieurs espèces de champignons hallucinogènes naturels, c’est la substance active qui une fois métabolisé par l’organisme devient de la psilocyn dans notre corps. La psilocyn interagit avec notre cerveau et influence notre niveaux de sérotonine car sa structure moléculaire est très similaire à la celle-ci. De nombreuses recherches passées et présentes ont démontré un impact extrêmement positif sur la dépression sévère, la dépendance à l’alcool et aux drogues, et certains traumatismes psychologiques.
Cette décision crée un précédent dans la réglementation de cette substance et constitue un pas important vers la légalisation de la psilocybine. Elle est accueillie comme une bouffée d’air frais par de nombreux médecins praticiens et patients.
