La psilocybine pour les maux de tête
Une étude dans le Harm Reduction Journal décrit les tryptamines psychédéliques (alcaloïdes présents dans les substances psychédéliques) comme étant « remarquablement efficaces » pour traiter les migraines, selon une majorité de participants à la recherche. L’étude a noté que « seuls les traitements psychédéliques sont capables d’arrêter la récurrence du cycle des agrégats ». La recherche n’a signé aucun effets indésirables graves, malgré quelques cas de malaises légers.
Voici un résumé de l’étude :
Les patients souffrant de céphalées en grappe et de migraines résistantes aux traitements explorent les traitements alternatifs en ligne. L’objectif de cette étude était d’améliorer la compréhension de l’utilisation de traitements pharmacologiques non établis ou alternatifs utilisés par les personnes souffrant de céphalées en grappe et de migraines.
MÉTHODE
Une analyse thématique qualitative des comptes rendus des utilisateurs présentés dans les discussions des forums en ligne a été réalisée. Les forums de discussion shroomery.org, bluelight.org et clusterbusters.org répondaient aux critères d’inclusion et ont été utilisés pour l’étude.
RÉSULTATS
L’analyse a permis de dégager six thèmes : un besoin désespéré de traitements efficaces ; le rôle du forum – trouver des traitements alternatifs et le soutien de la communauté ; les substances de traitement alternatif ; le dosage et les régimes ; les effets et les résultats du traitement ; et les effets indésirables. Les résultats permettent de comprendre pourquoi, comment et par quelles substances et méthodes les personnes souffrant de céphalées en grappe et de migraines cherchent à être soulagées.
CONCLUSION
Ces patients sont dans une situation désespérée et vulnérable, et les substances psychoactives illicites sont souvent considérées comme un dernier recours. Il semble que les effets psychoactifs en soi ne suscitent que peu ou pas d’intérêt, car ils sont plutôt tolérés ou évités par l’utilisation de doses sub-psychoactives. La psilocybine, le diéthylamide de l’acide lysergique et les tryptamines psychédéliques apparentées se sont révélés efficaces pour le traitement prophylactique et aigu des céphalées en grappe et des migraines. Les résultats du traitement par le cannabis étaient plus imprévisibles. Aucun effet indésirable grave n’a été signalé, mais on a observé que le désespoir incitait parfois à adopter un comportement risqué lors de l’obtention et de l’essai de diverses alternatives thérapeutiques. Le discours du forum a principalement porté sur la maximisation des résultats du traitement et la minimisation des effets néfastes potentiels.
